Shots Offered at 27 Area Schools Last Three Saturdays in March
Metro Animal Care and Control Offers Shots Tuesdays through Saturdays in March
NASHVILLE, Tenn., February 14, 2013 — The Metro Public Health Department and the Nashville Academy of Veterinary Medicine will hold their annual rabies vaccination clinics at 27 area schools the last three Saturdays of March from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. (Please see attached list of schools.) Rabies vaccinations and Microchip implants will be offered at the Metro Animal Care and Control facility, 5125 Harding Place, Nashville, TN 37211 Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., throughout March.
“Offering the low-cost vaccinations during the week at Metro Animal Care Control, and Saturdays at the facility and at area schools will hopefully allow more people to come for their pet’s rabies vaccination,” said Brent Hager, Director of the Metro Public Health Department’s Environmental Health Services.
Rabies vaccinations will be offered for $10 each for dogs and cats — less than the average vaccination and office visit charged at area veterinarian offices.
Metro ordinance 8.04.030-040 requires that dogs have a current rabies vaccination and be licensed annually. Cats must have a current rabies vaccination and be registered annually. Metro Animal Care and Control will offer Microchip implants for $25. Microchips will not be offered at the school vaccination clinic locations.
